What is sound? How can humans manipulate sound to make it higher, lower, louder, or softer? This summer camp is devoted to understanding sound and music.
On day one, we will measure the speed of sound and make simple toys that show us what sound is and how it behaves.
On day two, we will use what we learn about a sound's pitch to make a pipe instrument.
On day three, we will make our own doppler ball that will show us why horns sound lower as they drive past us. The learning will be enhanced by a free downloadable app that can measure a sound's pitch and amplitude over time.
