June 15, 2020 – June 18, 2020
1:00 pm - 3:30 pmContemporary vs. Classics - Literature Showdown
"New is always better" vs. "An oldie but a goodie" - Students will read and analyze paired texts to see how literary styles have changed over the decades. We will use short stories, novel excerpts, and two novels* to explore the idea that the best literature can only be found in one category or the other - the new-new or the classic cannon. Students will be taught strategies for tracking their thoughts while reading, and each will have the opportunity to deepen their reading repertoire during this summer course. *A variety of paired texts will be used to allow for student choice among genres and lengths.
There are two options for this course;
